Intelliguard and Accucold Introduce Integrated RFID-Enabled Mira Care™ Inventory Cabinet Into Pharma-Vac Refrigeration Line
May 27, 2026 8:22 AM

Purpose-built solution delivers automated, item-level visibility and control for temperature-sensitive medications

COLUMBUS, Ohio & BRONX, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Intelliguard, a leader in RFID-enabled medication management, today announced a strategic product integration with Accucold, a manufacturer of refrigeration systems purpose-built for healthcare environments, to introduce the RFID-Enabled, Temperature-Controlled Mira Care™ Inventory Cabinet within Accucold’s Pharma-Vac line.

The solution combines Accucold’s refrigeration systems with Intelliguard’s RFID platform in a single, unified design—built to operate within the Mira Ecosystem™, using open, interoperable RFID to manage both source-tagged and self-tagged medications, automating item-level inventory management of temperature-sensitive medications and providing hospitals with real-time visibility and control over high-value pharmaceutical inventory.

As part of the integration, Intelliguard’s RFID technology is built directly into Accucold’s Pharma-Vac units, enabling automated inventory identification and monitoring. Designed for inventory tracking and access logging, it helps health systems manage and locate refrigerated inventory. Cabinets will be available in a variety of sizes throughout the Pharma-Vac product family, supporting use cases from central and satellite pharmacies to clinical areas and remote locations.

Accucold refrigerators are widely used across hospitals and health systems in North America, with a longstanding focus on dependable, medical-grade performance. By integrating RFID-based inventory management directly into these systems, the companies are extending that reliability to the tracking and storage of cold-chain medications.

“Accucold has focused on dependable medical-grade refrigeration for years,” said Paul Storch, President of Accucold. “Working with Intelliguard allows us to extend that reliability into inventory management.”

Intelliguard’s Mira Ecosystem™ is healthcare’s only connected RFID medication inventory platform that supports both source-tagged and self-tagged medications, aligned with GS1 standards for interoperability. This integration extends that foundation, enabling enterprise-wide visibility and delivering the same open, interoperable RFID capabilities across all storage environments, enabling health systems to manage medication inventory with consistent precision, transparency, and control, regardless of where or how they are stored.

The announcement comes at a critical time for healthcare systems, as medication storage errors continue to pose significant financial and operational risks. A recent $20 million loss in Canada, caused by a freezer drawer left open, highlights the urgent need for smarter, automated inventory controls in temperature-controlled environments.

“Health systems need more dependable ways to track medications across their inventory,” said Bob Howard, CEO of Intelliguard. “By integrating RFID directly into refrigeration, Mira Care delivers real-time inventory visibility, helping pharmacies track refrigerated medications and storage conditions with the same level of precision expected across the Mira Ecosystem.”

The Mira Care™ Inventory Cabinet is designed for modern pharmacy operations, automatically identifying and tracking each tagged medication and providing real-time insight into:

Medication location and movement

Expiration status

Recall exposure

User access logging

Temperature data logging

The system is designed for high-value medications commonly stored under refrigeration, where accurate inventory tracking supports pharmacy operations.

The Mira Care™ Inventory Cabinet is an inventory management system. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and is not a substitute for clinical judgment.
