Internet domain names in English will soon become a thing of past as one can get domain names in your regional language.

Internet corp for assigned names and numbers (ICANN) responsible for internet's domain name system management worldwide is working on supporting various languages including 22 scheduled languages of India.

This means, people with no knowledge of English will be able to access websites with domain names in their regional languages.

A special panel called the Neo-Brahmi generation panel is dedicated to this work.The panel consists of more than 60 technical experts and linguists from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Singapore.

Proposal for Devanagari, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Kannada, Oriya and Telugu scripts have been released for public comment.
