ISRO’s GSAT-30 satellite successfully launched onboard Ariane-5 launch vehicle (VA251) from Guiana Space Centre at Kourou, a French territory. VA-251’s flight lasted 38 minutes. Ariane-5 is Arianespace's heavy-lift launch vehicle.
GSAT-30 is a telecommunication satellite designed and manufactured by ISRO. The 3,357-kg satellite will provide television, telecom and broadcasting services to mainland India and islands.
Indian broadcasters will be able to beam their programmes in India, Gulf countries, Australia and a large number of Asian countries. GSAT-30 will have a mission life of 15 years and will replace the Insat-4A satellite.
