Huawei Technologies has teamed up with China's Shaanxi Coal Industry Co to pilot the intelligent coal mine technology in two places. Smart coal mine sensors monitor parameters like gas build-up, ventilation levels and flooding, and send an alert if any of these reach a dangerous level. Sustainability too has to be factored into the equation, going forward.

Utimaco provides a Public Warning System (PWS) that sends alerts and warnings within seconds to every cell phone in an area affected by a catastrophic situation without the need for mobile numbers and irrespective of the congestion in the telecom network.

”If you’re watching television, the TV screen will flash the warning message and there will be audio too. If you’re listening to a song on the radio, it will be cut short and the alert will be aired. This will be done very shortly,” the official said.
