Apr 17, 2024 8:06 AM

10:09 AM EDT, 04/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (KTOS) and Luxembourg-based satellite telecommunications network provider SES said Wednesday that they have successfully completed a virtualized satellite communications ground system demonstration for the US Army.

The IT security company said the architecture allows soldiers to position their radio frequency hardware and software-defined hubs anywhere worldwide, and that the demonstration showed seamless operation supporting satellites in medium Earth orbit.

The demonstration, which was conducted over SES's O3b satellite network, used a remote terminal in Port St. Lucie, Florida and a gateway in Lima, Peru, which connected to a hub system in Virginia.
