Free open source license enables banks, credit unions, fintechs and developers to download, run and explore the new ANSI X9.150 Payment QR Code Standard

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Matera, a leading provider of modern banking technology, today announced the release of an open source implementation of the ANSI X9.150 Merchant-Presented Payment QR Code Standard, making it easier than ever for financial institutions, fintechs and developers to begin working with the new interoperability standard.

The software is available for download today and can be compiled and run locally or in the cloud without licensing fees, API keys or registration for up to 100,000 QR Codes paid per month. By removing the technical barriers typically associated with evaluating new payment technologies, Matera aims to accelerate adoption of the X9.150 standard across the U.S. payments ecosystem.

"As an active contributor to the X9.150 standard, we believe the industry's success depends on making implementation as simple as possible," said Carlos Netto, CEO of Matera. "Rather than asking organizations to start from a blank sheet of paper, we're providing a working implementation they can download, explore and learn from immediately."

The open source license is limited to any two payment rails and 100,000 QR Codes per month and is intended for development, education, proof-of-concept deployments and production. It enables organizations to:

Generate and validate ANSI X9.150 compliant QR Codes

Learn the standard through a working implementation

Build prototypes and proof-of-concept applications

Evaluate account-to-account payment experiences before production deployment

Start operating X9.150 right away

Organizations requiring production deployments above 100,000 QR Codes per month or with additional payment rails can upgrade to Matera's commercial Payment QR Code license.

Matera's commercial platform supports the full capabilities of the X9.150 standard, including multiple payment networks such as FedNow®, RTP®, ACH credit transfers, the Zelle Network® and emerging digital payment methods such as stablecoins, along with enterprise management, commercial support and production-scale deployment.

"The faster developers can experiment with X9.150, the faster the industry can move toward interoperable account-to-account payments," said Netto. "Our goal is simple: reduce friction, encourage innovation and help establish a common QR Code standard for U.S. payments."

The open source implementation is available immediately. Developers can access the source code on GitHub or download a ready-to-run version from Docker Hub, making it easy to quickly deploy and begin working with the X9.150 Payment QR Code standard.

For organizations ready to deploy X9.150 in production, Matera also offers its enterprise Payment QR Code platform with commercial support, additional payment rails and enterprise-scale capabilities.
