Earlier, outage tracking website Downdetector.com said that Microsoft Corp's Teams app was down for thousands of users and showed more than 4,800 incidents of people reporting this. It further added that more than 1,457 users are currently affected.
MS Teams form an integral part of daily operations as workers use the service to communicate internally, message each other, make calls and organise their workflow.
"We've taken action to reroute a portion of traffic to provide some relief within the environment," Microsoft said.
In January this year, the tech-giant said that Teams had surpassed 270 million monthly active users, as demand for remote business-oriented teleconferencing and messaging tools soared during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many other tech platforms had been hit by such outages in the past. Last year, Meta platforms including messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram had witnessed six-hour disruption.
