Clean technology company Neo San has launched a new device named ‘Neo-X’ for an intelligent method of waste management. This is a special incinerator that reduces about 95% toxic emissions while processing non-recyclable solid waste, compared to the devices currently available in the market.
The Neo-X does not have a complicated system where waste is transported over long distances to landfills but deals with waste right where it is produced. The new waste-disposal device has been built indigenously, from design to production, by the Bengaluru-based clean technology company.
The current approach to dealing with waste is not very effective. A lot of trucks, fuel, warehouses, and labour are utilised to move the waste over hundreds of kilometres just to dump it in landfills. Neo San seeks to achieve this by managing waste at the source, which is the most efficient way, the company said in a press release.
Neo-X adheres to international guidelines and incinerates waste at extremely high temperatures, thus eliminating over 95% of emissions above current pollution standards. The proper management of waste like medical, non-recycled plastic, will help in reducing emissions of CO2 and other gasses produced every day, according to the company.
Neo San is partnering with big companies, NGOs, and firms in the waste management segment, and public authorities to create environment-friendly and cleaner solutions for waste management. This will benefit students, members of the waste industry, and even tech parks. In line with this mission, Neo San aims to contribute towards India’s pollution mitigation goals before COP 27 in December, according to the company.
The incinerator is designed with technology to burn complicated waste. It can be applied in schools, colleges, tech parks, offices, hospitals, hotels, and non-recycled waste processing units. It's energy-efficient, as it uses just about that much of the electricity consumed by a ceiling fan, and it reduces waste management costs to less than one rupee per kilogram.
Besides its main job, the Neo-X also collects data about the waste it burns and provides accurate reports on how it reduces emissions. This data can even be used to calculate your carbon offset, which is a measure of to what extent carbon pollution could be prevented.
