Nokia Enhances DDoS Mitigation Capacity For Worldstream, Upgrades Hetzner's Data Centers
Mar 17, 2025 6:38 AM

Nokia Corporation shares remained flattish premarket on Monday after the Finnish multinational telecommunications company disclosed two major deals.

The first one is a contract with Worldstream to adopt Nokia’s network security technology to safeguard businesses in the Netherlands and worldwide from large-scale DDoS attacks.

By deploying Nokia Deepfield Defender and 7750 SR routers across its network, Worldstream has increased its DDoS mitigation capacity eightfold.

This enhancement enables customers to benefit from rapid, network-based protection against complex, high-volume cyber threats, including AI-driven attacks.

Matthieu Bourguignon, Senior Vice President for Network Infrastructure, Europe at Nokia ( NOK ) said, “We see that for hosting providers, traditional DDoS mitigation methods are no longer sufficient. With the Nokia Deepfield solution, Worldstream is now equipped with high-capacity, network-based protection that reacts instantly, rapidly detecting and eliminating threats before they impact businesses.”

The other contract win was from Hetzner to upgrade its data center and core network infrastructure.

Hetzner has optimized its network with Nokia’s carrier-grade routing solutions, enhancing ultra-reliable, high-performance connectivity while simplifying operations.

The deployment, already live in Germany and Finland, will expand across Europe to meet rising digital infrastructure demands.

Nokia’s energy-efficient routers, combined with advanced automation and real-time telemetry, offer Hetzner the visibility and resilience needed to support next-generation workloads.

Martin Fritzsche, Head of Network at Hetzner, stated, “This has ensured we remain flexible and agile whilst improving our data centers to meet our customer’s needs. Whether it is higher bandwidth, improved network availability, or optimized energy efficiency — we always find the best solutions by working with Nokia ( NOK ) and further receive the responsive support we have grown to rely on.”

Investors can gain exposure to the stock via iShares U.S. Digital Infrastructure and Real Estate ETF and Defiance Connective Technologies ETF ( SIXG ) .

Price Action: NOK shares are up 0.38% at $5.35 premarket at the last check Monday.
