Red Dead Redemption Finally Comes To PC: Everything You Need To Know
Oct 10, 2024 9:41 PM

After a 14-year wait, Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare, are officially heading to PC.

Take-Two Interactive Software Inc ( TTWO ) Rockstar Games confirmed that both titles will launch on Oct. 29, 2024, across Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Rockstar Store.

"For the first time in its storied legacy, John Marston's beloved journey can be experienced on PC in stunning, new detail," Rockstar said.

New Features Tailored For PC Gamers

The PC port, developed by Double Eleven, who also worked on the 2023 PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions, is packed with enhancements.

The game will feature native 4K resolution, up to 144Hz on compatible hardware, ultrawide and super ultrawide monitor support, HDR10, and full keyboard and mouse functionality. Additionally, Rockstar included Nvidia DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling technologies, making the experience even smoother for players on modern hardware.

Another upgrade is the inclusion of adjustable draw distances and shadow quality settings, offering players more customization to suit their systems. Nvidia DLSS Frame Generation, a feature designed to boost performance by increasing frame rates, will also be part of the package.

Despite these improvements, the PC version will only include the complete single-player campaigns for both Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare. Multiplayer content, a popular feature in other Rockstar titles, will not be part of this release.

System Requirements For Red Dead Redemption PC

To run the game, players need at least the following specs:

Minimum: Intel Core i5-4670 / AMD FX-9590 processor, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce RTX 960 / AMD Radeon R7 360 graphics, and 12 GB of available storage.

Recommended: Intel Core i5-8500 / AMD Ryzen 5 3500X processor, Nvidia RTX 2070 / AMD RX 5700 XT graphics, with an SSD for optimal performance.

Pricing Still A Mystery

While pricing information has yet to be revealed, the community is buzzing with excitement. PC players have long felt sidelined by Rockstar's staggered approach to platform releases.

Rockstar has previously delayed PC versions of games, such as Grand Theft Auto 5, which arrived on PC a year after its console debut. The same situation seems likely with Grand Theft Auto 6, for which no PC version has been announced yet.

The release of Red Dead Redemption on PC has sparked questions about what Rockstar has planned for future updates across other platforms. Players are speculating whether Red Dead Redemption 2 will see enhanced features on the upcoming PS5 Pro, particularly regarding 60fps and 4K resolution modes.
