01:50 PM EDT, 04/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- CFRA, an independent research provider, has provided MT Newswires with the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:
Given initial commentary we have seen out of Taiwan, we think the Magnitude-7.4 quake that hit the region will have minimal impact to the space. Most important is Taiwan Semiconductor, which appears to have suspended some production, but is already looking to get most of that capacity back up. We would also note that a Tsunami warning does heighten risks for the chip industry and the broader technology supply chain. We think the earthquake should serve as a reminder to investors of the risks associated with having so much foundry exposure coming from one region, both geopolitically and geographically (Taiwan is an island), with the region accounting for nearly half of all production for the semiconductor industry and 80%-90% of advanced technology production. Although a majority of Micron's DRAM production comes from Taiwan and the company is assessing the impact, we expect the broader memory impact to be negligible, assuming no major negative impact to factories. We will offer updates if and when applicable.
