Tachyum Open Sources its Prodigy ISA and Platform to Make AI Available to Everybody in the World
Aug 12, 2026 9:28 AM

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Tachyum® today announced that its Prodigy® platform is now open sourced for development, enabling global developers, partners, and customers to adopt, build, port, optimize, and validate software. Companies and organizations interested in supporting Tachyum’s open-source technology and projects are encouraged to contact the company at the following email address: [email protected].

Open-source Linux transformed computing by breaking the dominance of costly proprietary systems. AI is heading in the same direction, with powerful open-source models like Chinese Kimi K3 delivering performance at a fraction of the cost. By combining an open-source ISA, Tachyum aims to eliminate today’s costly hardware dependencies and make the most advanced AI accessible to everyone, everywhere in the world.

AI infrastructure should not be controlled by a handful of companies, just as the steam engine could not have transformed the world if it had been controlled by only one or two companies. By open-sourcing the complete Prodigy Instruction Set Architecture (ISA), infrastructure, software stack and development tools, Tachyum enables the developer community to actively participate in maturing the platform. This parallel approach eliminates the traditional hardware-first lag, ensuring a robust, battle-tested software ecosystem is fully operational the moment silicon ships.

The Prodigy software ecosystem currently encompasses over 70 individual software packages, ranging from low-level system utilities to enterprise-grade workloads. Through this open-source release, developers gain full visibility into Tachyum’s software environment, including:

Compiler Technology & ISA Implementation: Deep inspection into instruction-level optimizations and architecture execution. It includes an RTL implementation of IEEE standard-compliant floating-point (FP) operations available at https://github.com/Tachyum-Open-Source/fma-rtl. ISA specification manual is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license and is available at https://github.com/Tachyum-Open-Source/isa-manual.

Software Development Kit (SDK) & Runtimes: Comprehensive tools for efficient application building and execution.

Operating System Support & Drivers: Core OS integration for seamless deployment.

AI Software Frameworks: Acceleration libraries designed for scalable artificial intelligence and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads.

5x Superior Efficiency: Prodigy outperforms all industry competitors by running software workloads up to five times more efficiently across the entire stack.

Potential customers and partners can immediately evaluate the Prodigy platform, run simulations, and port critical workloads without waiting for physical hardware general availability.

“ARM is shifting from an IP licensing model to becoming a silicon provider, leaving us as the last independent processor architecture,” said Dr. Radoslav Danilak, founder and CEO of Tachyum. “That independence is essential for technological sovereignty of many countries. As AI becomes increasingly foundational, its underlying technology should benefit everyone; not be controlled by a single company.”

This software ecosystem launch directly fulfills Tachyum’s commitment following its November 2025 announcement regarding open sourcing its 281 GB/s TDIMM™ technology, where the company promised to open its Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) and software suite. The ISA specification manual is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. It also builds on Tachyum's earlier licensing momentum, including making its TAI TPU™ technology available for enterprise licensing.

Developers, researchers, and early-adopter organizations can access the Prodigy software environment starting today by visiting Tachyum's portal. Full TDIMM design specifications are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license available at https://github.com/Tachyum-Open-Source/TDIMM-spec.
