The Confluent Real-Time Context Engine: Power AI Agents and Apps With Instant Intelligence

Real-Time Context Engine delivers fresh contextual data to any AI agent or application with security, governance, and observability

NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Confluent, Inc. ( CFLT ) , the data streaming pioneer, today announced Real-Time Context Engine, a fully managed service using Model Context Protocol (MCP). The service delivers real-time, structured data and accurate, relevant context to any artificial intelligence (AI) agent, copilot, or large language model (LLM)-powered application.

“AI is only as good as its context,” said Sean Falconer, Head of AI at Confluent. “Enterprises have the data, but it’s often stale, fragmented, or locked in formats that AI can’t use effectively. Real-Time Context Engine solves this by unifying data processing, reprocessing, and serving, turning continuous data streams into live context for smarter, faster, and more reliable AI decisions.”

Open standards like MCP have made it easier to connect enterprise data to AI agents and applications, but they only solve part of the problem. The data it exposes often remains raw, fragmented, and inconsistent while data lake batch processing pipelines add layers of complexity and delay. The result is AI that reacts to the past with no understanding of the present. What’s needed is an architecture that unifies both, continuously processing and serving accurate, trustworthy context so AI can make reliable and trustworthy decisions.

“As AI-powered automated agents, assistants, and advisors begin to be used in organizations, curated, secured, compliant, and contextual data will be a key success factor in ensuring trusted outcomes," states the IDC FutureScape: Worldwide Data and Analytics 2025 Predictions.

Real-Time Context Engine: Delivering Instant Intelligence to AI Agents and Apps

Real-Time Context Engine is a fully managed service that uses MCP to quickly deliver structured, real-time context to any agent or application. With Real-Time Context Engine, developers can use Confluent’s complete data streaming platform to manage their data infrastructure and quickly unlock trustworthy context for all their AI agents and applications anywhere.

With Real-Time Context Engine, teams can:

Access real-time data that matters. Stream accurate, continuously updated context into AI systems, ensuring that every decision and response reflects the current state of the business.

Trust and control data with governance and logging. Full auditability and visibility into every request helps teams ensure compliance, maintain transparency, and scale AI with confidence.

Understand using metadata. Deliver context that helps AI systems understand not just the data itself but what it means, driving more accurate reasoning and smarter outcomes.

Real-Time Context Engine is available in Early Access. Sign up to try it here.
