UK watchdog, Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has fined Facebook £5,00,000 ($6,44,600). The social media giant has been fined for its role in the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
According to ICO's investigation, personal information of 1 million UK users was harvested by Facebook.
The data processed between 2007 and 2014 was accessible to third party developers without users' consent.
The fine slapped by ICO is the maximum allowed under the law at the time of the breach which is before the EU data protection rules came into effect.
