Charter Communications ( CHTR ) asked customers to delete unwanted recordings on its online video storage platform after glitches, according to Chief Executive Chris Winfrey's letter to users seen by MT Newswires.
The company's Cloud Digital Video Recorder Plus platform saw higher-than-expected usage due to the success of streaming service Xumo and increased usage of Cloud DVR Plus within the Spectrum TV App. This led to customers experiencing technical difficulties, Winfrey said in the letter.
Winfrey said the company will provide full credit for Cloud DVR Plus charge, including the previous month and ensuing months until the performance is restored.
"During this time, which we estimate to be approximately two months, you will be limited to 50 recorded programs," Winfrey said. "To optimize your viewing experience, please delete any old or unwanted recordings."
Charter's actions to provide more capacity for Cloud DVR Plus customers include making additional capacity investments in the platform, temporarily pausing acceptance of new customers and restricting the access of the company's employees to the platform, according to Winfrey.
Xumo, a joint venture between Charter and Comcast ( CMCSA ) , was launched in October.
