WhatsApp is set to employ a third-party company to audit its payments system for data-localisation compliance in India, reported The Times of India.

The instant messaging platform, in its response to last month’s affidavit by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), told the Supreme Court that it has submitted a ‘confidential revised data-localisation plan to all its stakeholders, said the report.

As per the report, WhatsApp is yet to name the auditor who has been selected for the procedure.

Also, the report added, the sources in the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) said that WhatsApp is yet to commit to an official timeline to be fully compliant with RBI norms regarding data localization.
