Industry-Leading Desktop and Enterprise Search Platform Now Enables AI-Powered Personalized Organization, Custom Categorization and Classification, and Flexible AI Model Deployment—Securely Where Enterprise Data Resides

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

X1®, the global leader in index-in-place data discovery software for legal, compliance, governance, and investigation use cases, today announced the release of X1 Search v11, the first AI-enriched version of its flagship desktop and enterprise search platform — marking a significant advancement in high-speed, secure AI-enabled search.

With this release, X1 introduces an AI-enriched search experience for individual employees, deploying AI models directly on top of the X1 index to deliver intelligent categorization, classification, and tagging of user data — including email, documents, Microsoft Teams and Slack chats — while keeping all AI processing securely on your local device or behind the corporate firewall.

“X1 Search v11 marks an important milestone in how organizations can safely apply AI to improve the way users find, identify, and organize information,” said Chas Meier, Chief Product Officer at X1. “By integrating AI models into X1’s proprietary micro-index architecture, we are enabling organizations to automatically categorize data, identify sensitive information such as PII, and unlock smarter ways to work with their information—without compromising the security controls enterprise environments demand.”

These advancements accelerate information discovery, improve contextual search precision, and materially reduce manual sorting and review effort across the workforce.

As organizations move from AI experimentation to operational deployment, they face a critical challenge: how to apply artificial intelligence without compromising data security. Many AI platforms require enterprise information to be transmitted or processed outside the organization, exposing organizations to significant legal, compliance, and data governance risks.

X1 Search v11 addresses this challenge by ensuring AI models operate in-place, within enterprise-controlled environments enabling high-performance AI processing without data movement. This architecture delivers rapid, scalable insight while preserving security and operational continuity. All AI processing runs securely at the data source, enabled and controlled by the customer, ensuring complete data sovereignty and alignment with corporate security and compliance mandates.

Advancing Secure, AI-Enhanced Enterprise Search

Designed to enhance individual productivity while maintaining enterprise control, X1 Search v11 enables organizations to leverage:

AI-Powered Personalized Organization

Automatically tag and structure emails, documents, and communications across systems at the data source — delivering greater contextual relevance, accelerating information organization, and maximizing daily productivity.

Custom Categorization and Classification

Apply policy-driven categorization aligned to corporate and regulatory requirements, including PCI, PII, HIPAA, proprietary intellectual property, classified data, and FOIA-responsive content — improving visibility into sensitive information and reducing manual review burden.

Flexible AI Model Deployment

Leverage pre-configured third-party AI models or deploy organization-approved models — including open source and proprietary Large Language Models (LLMs) and Small Language Models (SLMs) — to support workflows such as matter separation, laptop reclamation, and internal investigations.

“X1 Search v11 embeds AI-driven categorization and classification directly into employee workflows,” said Larry Gill, CEO at X1. “By combining flexible AI model application with secure, index-in-place architecture, organizations can enhance productivity while maintaining full control over sensitive information. This advancement meaningfully strengthens how enterprises manage risk, support internal reviews, and leverage institutional knowledge.”

Availability

X1 Search v11 is available beginning March 26, 2026.

X1 will host a live product tour on Thursday, April 23, providing a guided walkthrough of the new AI-enriched capabilities and flexible model deployment features.

This release marks the first phase of a broader rollout of AI capabilities, further advancing X1’s mission of bringing intelligence to enterprise data — securely, at scale, and in-place.
