Asian Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Decline in Wednesday Trading

10:41 AM EST, 01/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Asian equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were tracking lower Wednesday morning, declining 0.89% to 2,077.96 on the S&P Asia 50 ADR Index.

From North Asia, the gainers were led by financial services company CNFinance ( CNF ) and internet and data center services provider VNET Group ( VNET ) , which climbed 3.9% and 3.6% respectively. They were followed by advertising agency iClick Interactive Asia Group ( ICLK ) and media company Phoenix New Media ( FENG ) , which were up 3.9% and 2% respectively.

The decliners from North Asia were led by automotive ecommerce platform TuanChe ( TC ) and computer hardware maker Canaan (CAN), which shed 9.1% and 8.7% respectively. They were followed by health care platform 111 (YI) and used car ecommerce platform Uxin ( UXIN ) , which dropped 9.3% and 5.3% respectively.

From South Asia, the gainers were led by tech conglomerate Sea (SE) and telecommunications operator Telekomunikasi Indonesia (TLK), which rose 1.6% and 0.9% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (RDY), which increased 0.5%.

The decliners from South Asia were led by IT firm Sify Technologies ( SIFY ) and financial services company HDFC Bank ( HDB ) , which lost 4.6% and 2.1% respectively. They were followed by financial services company ICICI Bank ( IBN ) and telecommunications operator PLDT ( PHI ) , which were down 1.7% and 1% respectively.
