10:48 AM EDT, 07/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Asian equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were falling sharply Tuesday morning, down 1.49% to 2,857.68 on the S&P Asia 50 ADR Index.
From North Asia, the gainers were led by automotive company Honda Motor ( HMC ) and online retailer JD.com ( JD ) , which rose 3.4% and 2.6% respectively. They were followed by fintech firm High Templar Tech ( HTT ) and social media video platform JOYY ( JOYY ) , which were up 2.1% and 1.8% respectively.
The decliners from North Asia were led by semiconductor company Silicon Motion Technology ( SIMO ) , which tumbled 10%. It was followed by semiconductor companies ASE Technology ( ASX ) and Himax Technologies ( HIMX ) , which fell 8.3% and 7.4% respectively.
From South Asia, the gainers were led by IT firms Infosys ( INFY ) and Wipro ( WIT ) , which advanced 3.1% and 1% respectively. They were followed by lender HDFC Bank ( HDB ) and telecommunications operator PLDT ( PHI ) , which increased 0.4% and 0.3% respectively.
The decliners from South Asia were led by computer hardware maker Canaan (CAN) and IT firm Sify Technologies ( SIFY ) , which dropped 8% and 1.4% respectively. They were followed by lender ICICI Bank ( IBN ) and pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (RDY), which were off 0.4% and 0.2% respectively.
