Asian Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Rise in Friday Trading, End Week 4.6% Higher

10:50 AM EDT, 08/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Asian equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were climbing higher Friday morning, rising 0.89% to 1,969.47 on the S&P Asia 50 ADR Index, which was up 4.6% for the week.

From North Asia, the gainers were led by automotive ecommerce platform TuanChe ( TC ) and fintech firm Jiayin Group ( JFIN ) , which rose 8.7% and 5.8% respectively. They were followed by ecommerce companies JD.com ( JD ) and Alibaba Group ( BABA ) , which were up 5.4% and 5% respectively.

The decliners from North Asia were led by diagnostic imaging centers company Concord Medical Services ( CCM ) and semiconductor company Silicon Motion Technology ( SIMO ) , which fell 6.1% and 5.1% respectively. They were followed by game live-streaming platform HUYA ( HUYA ) and streaming music service Tencent Music Entertainment Group ( TME ) , which dropped 3.8% and 2.7% respectively.

From South Asia, the gainers were led by telecommunications operator Telekomunikasi Indonesia (TLK) and IT firm Wipro ( WIT ) , which increased 2.3% and 1.9% respectively. They were followed by financial services companies ICICI Bank ( IBN ) and HDFC Bank ( HDB ) , which were up 1.3% and 0.8% respectively.

The only decliners from South Asia were IT firm Sify Technologies ( SIFY ) and business process management company WNS (WNS), which lost 2% and 0.9% respectively.
