April 17 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened
higher on Friday after Iran's move to open the Strait of Hormuz
lifted Middle East peace hopes and boosted risk appetite,
outweighing declines in energy shares pressured by plunging oil
prices.
At 09:30 a.m. ET, the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX
Composite Index was up 0.4% at 34,213.26 points.
