CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens higher as energy shares lend support

Oct 2 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened

higher on Wednesday, tracking the heavyweight energy sector as

escalating conflict in the Middle East pushed oil prices higher.

At 9:31 a.m. ET (13:31 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's

S&P/TSX composite index was up 35.97 points, or 0.15%,

at 24,069.96.
