May 19 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened

higher on Tuesday, supported by easing investor nerves after the

United States paused a planned attack in response to Tehran's

peace proposal, fueling hopes that a deal may be close.

At 9:30 a.m. ET, the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX

composite index was up 0.1% at 33,878.62 points.
