Sept 3 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index edged

higher on Wednesday, led by gains in materials shares, as

investors remained focused on key economic data this week that

could shape the Bank of Canada's rate decision.

At 9:31 a.m. ET (1331 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's

S&P/TSX composite index was up 0.24% at 28,685.53

points.
