CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens higher, poised for weekly gain

Jan 3 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened

higher on Friday and was on course to end the holiday-shortened

week on a positive note, helped by rising technology and energy

shares.

At 9:40 a.m. ET (1440 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's

S&P/TSX composite index was up 0.5%, at 25,032.09

points.
