March 14 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index opened

higher on Friday ahead of Mark Carney's appointment as prime

minister of Canada, while still being set for a weekly loss amid

growth concerns from an ongoing trade war.

At 9:31 a.m. ET (1331 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's

S&P/TSX composite index was up 0.56% at 24,339.70.
