Corporate Earnings Season, Oil Price Movement Elevate European Bourses Midday
Aug 13, 2026 5:10 AM

07:48 AM EDT, 08/13/2026 (MT Newswires) -- European bourses tracked moderately higher midday Thursday amid incoming corporate earnings and lower petroleum prices.

Bank and food stocks led gains on continental trading floors, while oil shares lagged.

Adyen shares were up 16% midday after the company reported higher H1 results and lifted its 2026 revenue guidance.

Front-month North Sea Brent crude-oil futures were down 1.9% at $87.30 a barrel amid media reports of softening global demand.

Investors also eyed Wall Street futures in the green amid higher closes overnight on Asian exchanges.

In economic news, the UK GDP rose 0.4% quarter over quarter in Q2 and by 1.2% from a year earlier, the Office for National Statistics reported.

The pan-continental Stoxx Europe 600 Index was up 0.2% mid-session, again testing all-time record highs.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Technology Index was up 0.4%, and the Stoxx 600 Banks Index gained 0.8%.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Oil and Gas Index eased 0.8%, while the Stoxx 600 Europe Food and Beverage Index edged 0.7% higher.

The REITE, a European REIT index, increased 0.3%.

On the national market indexes, Germany's DAX was up 0.5%, and the FTSE 100 in London declined 0.2%. The CAC 40 in Paris was up 0.2%, while Spain's IBEX 35 was 0.7% higher.

Yields on benchmark 10-year German bonds were lower, near 3.2%.

The Euro Stoxx 50 volatility index was down 1.9% at 15.44, indicating below-average volatility for European stock markets in the next 30 days, a positive signal. A reading above 20 indicates choppier markets ahead, while below 20 suggests calmer exchanges.
