Crude Oil Gains 1.5%; Fluor Shares Plunge Following Downbeat Earnings

U.S. stocks traded lower toward the end of trading, with the Nasdaq Composite falling around 100 points on Tuesday.

The Dow traded down 0.38% to 44,378.28 while the NASDAQ fell 0.47% to 19,932.75. The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.16% to 6,105.15.

Leading and Lagging Sectors

Energy shares jumped by 1.8% on Tuesday.

In trading on Tuesday, communication services shares fell by 1%.

Top Headline

The NY Empire State Manufacturing Index rose by 18.3 points to a reading of +5.7 in February, topping market estimates of -1.

Equities Trading UP

                       

GeneDx Holdings Corp. ( WGS ) shares shot up 35% to $102.77 after the company issued FY25 revenue guidance above consensus estimates.

Shares of Super Micro Computer, Inc. ( SMCI ) got a boost, surging 103% to $0.95 amid positive sentiment ahead of its annual report filing deadline on Feb 25. The shares are also rising following its upbeat FY2026 revenue projection last week.

PainReform Ltd ( PRFX ) shares were also up, gaining 26% to $3.5499 as the company executed definitive agreement to acquire DeepSolar.

Equities Trading DOWN

Septerna Inc ( SEPN ) shares dropped 58% to $5.40 after the company announced the discontinuation of its Phase 1 trial of SEP-786 due to unanticipated Bilirubin events.

Shares of Fluor Corporation ( FLR ) were down 11% to $38.54 after the company missed quarterly earnings and revenue estimates.

Petros Pharmaceuticals Inc ( PTPI ) was down, falling 55% to $0.1333 after the company reported the pricing of $9.6 million public offering of common stock and warrants.

Commodities

In commodity news, oil traded up 1.5% to $71.82 while gold traded up 1.8% at $2,952.80.

Silver traded up 1.8% to $33.450 on Tuesday, while copper fell 1.6% to $4.5895.

Euro zone

European shares were higher today. The eurozone's STOXX 600 rose 0.32%, Germany's DAX 40 rose 0.20% and France's CAC 40 rose 0.21%. Spain's IBEX 35 Index rose 0.98%, while London's FTSE 100 fell 0.01%.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed mixed on Tuesday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 gaining 0.25%, China's Shanghai Composite Index falling 0.93%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gaining 1.59% and India's BSE Sensex falling 0.04%.

Economics
