Crude Oil Prices Rise on Heightened Geopolitical Tensions in Europe, Middle East
Sep 22, 2025 2:38 AM

04:59 AM EDT, 09/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Crude oil prices rose on Monday amid geopolitical developments in Europe and the Middle East, highlighting ongoing risks to European energy security.

Brent crude at last look gained 0.2% to US$66.83/barrel and West Texas Intermediate crude climbed 0.6% to US$63.04/b.

Polish and allied aircraft were deployed early on Saturday after Russia launched airstrikes targeting western Ukraine near the border with Poland, Reuters reported, citing Polish armed forces.

The deployment followed a violation of NATO Estonia's airspace by three Russian military jets for 12 minutes on Friday. On Sunday, Germany's Air Force reported that a Russian military plane entered neutral airspace over the Baltic Sea, Reuters said in a Monday report.

The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to meet on Monday over Estonia's accusation that Russian fighter jets violated its airspace, diplomats said, as reported by Reuters.

In the Middle East, four Western nations recognized a Palestinian state, prompting a furious response from Israel, the report said.
