From continental Europe, the gainers were led by medical device company FocalTherics (FOCL) and steelmaker ArcelorMittal ( MT ) , which rose 2.3% and 1.8% respectively.
They were followed by bank BBVA (BBVA), which added 0.8%.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) and healthcare company Grifols ( GRFS ) , which shed 8.6%.which fell 4.5% and respectively.
They were followed by biotech company Inventiva ( IVA ) , which declined 3.3%.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by banking and insurance company NatWest ( NWG ) and semiconductor company Arm (ARM), which rose 4% and 3.1% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by analytics provider RELX ( RELX ) , which dropped 3.7%. Business services group Rentokil Initial ( RTO ) shed 2.2% and telecom Vodafone ( VOD ) , lost 2.1%.
