European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Edge Lower in Thursday Trading

11:12 AM EDT, 08/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were slightly lower late Thursday morning, declining 0.13% to 1,525.44 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by medical device maker EDAP TMS ( EDAP ) and financial services company Banco Santander (SAN), which rose 4.4% and 2.9% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Evaxion ( EVAX ) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols ( GRFS ) , which increased 2.6% and 0.9% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical companies DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) and Cellectis ( CLLS ) , which fell 2.3% and 1.9% respectively. They were followed by petroleum refiner Equinor ( EQNR ) and telecommunications operator Telefonica ( TEF ) , which lost 1.7% and 1.1% respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and biotech company Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) , which advanced 8.9% and 3.4% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Bicycle Therapeutics ( BCYC ) and biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics ( AUTL ) , which were up 2.9% and 1.6% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics ( AKTX ) and telecommunications operator Vodafone Group ( VOD ) , which dropped 3.8% and 2% respectively. They were followed by tobacco company British American Tobacco ( BTI ) and utilities company National Grid ( NGG ) , which were down 1.4% and 0.7% respectively.
