European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Edge Lower in Wednesday Trading

11:11 AM EDT, 08/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were edging lower late Wednesday morning, declining 0.12% to 1,959.45 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by telecommunications company Nokia ( NOK ) and semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) , which advanced 8.7% and 8.5%, respectively. They were followed by telecommunications company Ericsson (ERIC) and accommodations booking site trivago (TRVG), which rose 2.3% and 2.1%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by medical device maker EDAP (FOCL) and software company SAP (SAP), which shed 17% and 2.9%, respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Evaxion ( EVAX ) and pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) , which fell 2.6% and 2.2%, respectively.

The gainers from the UK were led by biopharmaceutical firms NuCana ( NCNA ) and Amarin ( AMRN ) , which increased 4.9% and 1.6%, respectively. They were followed by lender Lloyds Banking Group (LYG) and utilities company National Grid ( NGG ) , which were up 1.5% and 1.3%, respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) and biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) , which lost 7% and 5.8% respectively. They were followed by software firm Endava ( DAVA ) and biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) , which dropped 3.3% and 2.7% respectively.
