European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Flat in Monday Trading

11:30 AM EDT, 08/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were flat late Monday morning, nudging 0.05% higher to 1,405.05 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ) and biopharmaceutical firm Genfit ( GNFT ) , which rose 3.9% and 2.8%, respectively. They were followed by petroleum refiner Equinor ( EQNR ) and oil and gas company Eni (E), which were up 2.4% and 0.9%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biotech firm Evaxion Biotech ( EVAX ) , which fell 6.3%, while semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS) retreated 5.4%. They were followed by medical device maker EDAP TMS ( EDAP ) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which were down 3% and 2.4%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and TC Biopharm ( TCBP ) , which climbed 18% and 8.6%, respectively. Biopharmaceutical firm Verona Pharma ( VRNA ) rose 3.3%, while biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics ( AUTL ) was up 1.3%.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies Akari Therapeutics ( AKTX ) and Amarin ( AMRN ) , which retreated 2.8% and 2.2%, respectively. They were followed by hospitality company InterContinental Hotels Group ( IHG ) , which was off 1.1%, and then biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) , which retreated 0.5%.
