11:16 AM EDT, 10/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were moving higher late Monday morning, rising 0.4% to 1,391.20 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by medical device maker EDAP TMS ( EDAP ) and 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS), which rose 7.7% and 5.2% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Cellectis ( CLLS ) and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ) , which increased 2.7% and 1.6% respectively.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by electronics company Philips (PHG) and biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) , which fell 16% and 4% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications company Veon ( VEON ) and petroleum refiner Equinor ( EQNR ) , which dropped 3% and 2.5% respectively.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) and cruise line operator Carnival (CUK), which advanced 8% and 4.5% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) , which were up 3.6% and 1.1% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by oil and gas company BP (BP) and biopharmaceutical company NuCana ( NCNA ) , which lost 1.5% and 1.4% respectively. They were followed by oil and gas company Shell (SHEL) and financial services company Lloyds Banking Group ( LYG ) , which were down 1.3% and 1% respectively.
