European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Higher in Thursday Trading

11:16 AM EDT, 07/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were higher late Thursday morning, rising 0.60% to 1,514.46 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols ( GRFS ) , which advanced 13% and 3.3%, respectively. They were followed by medical device maker EDAP TMS ( EDAP ) and electronics conglomerate Philips (PHG), which were up 2.6% and 1.8%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by financial services company Banco Santander (SAN) and 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS), which fell 2.8% and 1.8%, respectively. They were followed by financial services company Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria ( BBVA ) and software firm SAP (SAP), which were down 1.6% and 1.4%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by mining company BHP Group ( BHP ) and tobacco company British American Tobacco ( BTI ) , which rose 4.3% and 2%, respectively. They were followed by medical device maker Smith & Nephew ( SNN ) and pharmaceutical company GSK (GSK), which dropped 1.9% and 1.8%, respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) and software company Endava ( DAVA ) , which dropped 34% and 3%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies Bicycle Therapeutics ( BCYC ) and Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) , which lost 1.5% and 1.1%, respectively.
