European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Higher in Wednesday Trading

11:02 AM EDT, 08/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were tracking higher late Wednesday morning, rising 0.11% to 1,458.26 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by telecommunications operator Telefonica ( TEF ) and biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) , which rose 2.8% and 2.7% respectively. They were followed by financial services companies Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria ( BBVA ) and Banco Santander (SAN), which were up 2.4% and 1.9% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by accommodations booking company trivago (TRVG) and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ) , which dropped 31% and 3.6% respectively. They were followed by semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) and pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) , which fell 3.4% and 3.3% respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by alcoholic beverage company Diageo ( DEO ) and telecommunications operator Vodafone Group ( VOD ) , which increased 4.2% and 3.2% respectively. They were followed by oil and gas company BP (BP) and tobacco company British American Tobacco ( BTI ) , which were up 2.1% and 1.1% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) , which shed 13% and 7.4% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies NuCana ( NCNA ) and Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) , which lost 5.2% and 3.3% respectively.
