European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Nudge Higher in Tuesday Trading

11:07 AM EDT, 05/14/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Telecoms stocks led European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts slightly higher Tuesday morning, rising 0.15% to 1,420.65 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by telecommunications company Ericsson (ERIC) and biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) , which rose 5.7% and 5.5%, respectively. They were followed by telecommunications company Nokia ( NOK ) and biopharmaceutical company Calliditas Therapeutics ( CALT ) , which increased 4.8% and 3.7%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) and medical device maker EDAP TMS ( EDAP ) , which dropped 3.9% and 3.8%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Genfit ( GNFT ) and pharmaceutical company Sanofi ( SNY ) , which lost 2.6% and 1.5%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) and telecommunications company Vodafone Group ( VOD ) , which climbed 9.9% and 3.5%, respectively. They were followed by mining company BHP Group ( BHP ) and medical device maker Smith & Nephew ( SNN ) , which were up 2.9% and 2%, respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) and pharmaceutical company Avadel Pharmaceuticals ( AVDL ) , which fell 2.6% and 2.3%, respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics ( AUTL ) and oil and gas company Shell (SHEL), which were down 1.9% and 0.9%, respectively.
