European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Plunge in Monday Trading

11:07 AM EDT, 08/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts plunged late Monday morning, tumbling 2.5% to 1,357.86 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the only gainers were biopharmaceutical companies MorphoSys ( MOR ) and Calliditas Therapeutics ( CALT ) , which rose 2.4% and 1.3% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biotech firm Evaxion Biotech ( EVAX ) and 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS), which fell 11.4% and 6.7% respectively. They were followed by accommodation booking site trivago (TRVG) and biotech firm BioNTech (BNTX), which lost 6.3% and 6.2% respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the only gainers were biopharmaceutical companies NuCana ( NCNA ) and TC Biopharm ( TCBP ), which were up 1.7% and 0.4% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and Bicycle Therapeutics ( BCYC ) , which tumbled 12.4% and 10% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics ( SLN ) and biopharmaceutical company Verona Pharma ( VRNA ) , which dropped 9.6% and 6.7% respectively.
