European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Rise Friday

11:20 AM EDT, 08/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were advancing on Friday morning, up 0.5% to 1,487.32 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by vaccine company Valneva (VALN) and steel producer ArcelorMittal ( MT ) , which rose 6% and 3.8% respectively.

They were followed by pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) and bank BBVA (BBVA), which added 3.5% and 2.4%.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ) and medical device maker Edap (EDAP), which fell 4.4% and 3.1% respectively.

They were followed by clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company Inventiva ( IVA ) , which was down 1.7%.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company NuCana ( NCNA ) and biotech company Bicycle Therapeutics ( BCYC ) , which climbed past 7% and nearly 5% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by advertising and public relations firm WPP ( WPP ) and biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) , which retreated nearly 5% and 3.9% respectively.
