From continental Europe, the gainers were led by telecommunications company Nokia ( NOK ) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which rose 2.7% and 2.6% respectively. They were followed by ING (ING), which was up 2%.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by furniture maker Natuzzi (NTZ) and semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) , which fell 3.5% and 1.8% respectively. They were followed by accommodations booking company trivago (TRVG), which was down 1.7%.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Verona Pharma ( VRNA ) and NuCana ( NCNA ) , which advanced 5.2% and 5% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics ( AUTL ) and biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) , which increased 4.5% and 3.7% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies TC Biopharm ( TCBP ) and Akari Therapeutics ( AKTX ) , which lost 3.3% and 3.1% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) and National Grid ( NGG ) , which were down 1.5% and 0.8% respectively.
