European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Rise in Wednesday Trading

10:56 AM EST, 11/05/2025 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were tracking higher late Wednesday morning, rising 0.75% to 1,588.56 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by medical device maker EDAP (EDAP) and biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) , which rose 4.6% and 2.7% respectively. They were followed by internet advertising firm Criteo ( CRTO ) and biopharmaceutical company Cellectis ( CLLS ) , which were up 1.5% and 0.6% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company Grifols ( GRFS ) and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ) , which fell 4.9% and 3.5% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) and telecommunications operator Telefonica (TEF), which were down 2.6% and 2.5% respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and oil and gas company BP (BP), which advanced 3.3% and 2.7% respectively. They were followed by tobacco company British American Tobacco ( BTI ) and hospitality company InterContinental Hotels Group ( IHG ) , which increased 2.3% and 2.1% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies Akari Therapeutics ( AKTX ) and Bicycle Therapeutics ( BCYC ) , which shed 18% and 5% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) and biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) , which lost 2% and 1.7% respectively.
