European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Rise Sharply in Friday Trading; End Week 2.3% Higher

10:55 AM EDT, 08/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were sharply higher late Friday morning, rising 1.18% to 1,545.50 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index, which is up 2.3% for the week so far.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) and biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) , which rose 5.5% and 4.8% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) and biotech firm Evaxion ( EVAX ) , which were up 3.6% and 1.9% respectively.

The lone decliner from continental Europe was medical device maker EDAP TMS ( EDAP ) , which dropped 3%.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by software firm Endava ( DAVA ) and biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) , which advanced 6.7% and 5.2% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics ( SLN ) and biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) , which increased 4.3% and 3.9% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company NuCana ( NCNA ) , which lost 2.7%, followed by biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and tobacco company British American Tobacco ( BTI ) , which were down 2.1% and 0.5% respectively.
