11:27 AM EST, 01/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were advancing on Thursday morning, up 0.5% to 1,346.74 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by Spanish banks Banco Santander (SAN) and Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria ( BBVA ) , which rose 3.1% and 3.2% respectively.
They were followed by Dutch banking and financial services company ING (ING), which was up 1.9%.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by laser communication equipment maker Mynaric ( MYNA ) and semiconductor company ASML ( ASML ) , which fell 5.5% and 4.6% respectively.
They were followed by pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturer Grifols ( GRFS ) , which was down nearly 4%.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biotech company Autolus Therapeutics ( AUTL ) and budget airline Ryanair ( RYAOF ) , which rose 5.3% and 4.5% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biotech company TC Biopharm ( TCBP ) and cryptocurrency miner Argo Blockchain ( ARBK ) , which lost 13% and 5.5% respectively. They were followed by semiconductor company Arm (ARM), which was down 8.4%.
