European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Trend Higher in Tuesday Trading

11:17 AM EDT, 08/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were tracking higher late Tuesday morning, rising 0.95% to 1,412.49 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ) and biopharmaceutical company Genfit ( GNFT ) , which rose 4.7% and 3.7%, respectively. Biotech firm Evaxion Biotech ( EVAX ) was up 3.3% and pharmaceutical firm Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) added 2.9%.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) , which fell 5.7%, and then biopharmaceutical company Grifols ( GRFS ) , which retreated 4.5%. They were followed by petroleum refiner Equinor ( EQNR ) and oil and gas company Eni (E), which dropped 2% and 1%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) and Verona Pharma ( VRNA ) , which increased 4.6% and 2.8%, respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics ( SLN ) and biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) , which were up 2% and 1.8%, respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies NuCana ( NCNA ) and TC Biopharm ( TCBP ) , which lost 6.2% and 3.1%, respectively. Oil and gas company Shell (SHEL) was down 0.6% and biopharmaceutical firm Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) was off 0.5%.
