European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Trend Lower Friday; Set to End Week Down 4%

11:08 AM EDT, 07/19/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were trending modestly lower Friday, declining 0.37% to 1,410.60 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

The index is set to end the week down 4%.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) and biotech firm Evaxion Biotech ( EVAX ) , which increased 3.9% and 2%, respectively. They were followed by medical device maker EDAP TMS ( EDAP ) and pharmaceutical firm Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) , which were up 1.5% and 1.4%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company Genfit ( GNFT ) , which fell 5.2% and 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS), which retreated 4.2%. Biopharmaceutical firm Cellectis ( CLLS ) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA) were also down 4% and 1.9%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics ( AKTX ) and biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) , which rose 6.3% and 3.9%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Verona Pharma ( VRNA ) and pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics ( SLN ) , which were up 3.6% and 3.2%, respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) and software firm Endava ( DAVA ) , which lost 11% and 2.6%, respectively. Insurance firm Prudential (PUK) was also down 1.6% and mining company BHP Group ( BHP ) retreated 1.2%.
