European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Trend Lower in Tuesday Trading

11:13 AM EDT, 07/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were trending lower late Tuesday morning, declining 0.73% to 1,439.07 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies argenx (ARGX) and Grifols ( GRFS ) , which rose 3.2% and 2.3% respectively. Internet browser company Opera (OPRA) was up 1.8% and pharmaceutical firm Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ) added 0.5%.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) , which declined 6.2%, while biopharmaceutical company Cellectis ( CLLS ) lost 4.5%. They were followed by oil and gas company TotalEnergies (TTE) and pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) , which retreated 1.5% and 1.4%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by. biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) and biopharmaceutical company NuCana ( NCNA ) , which advanced 7.9% and 2.9%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) , which increased 2.6% and 2%, respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by oil and gas company BP (BP), which was down 3.8%, while financial services company Barclays ( JJCTF ) declined 3.1%. Financial services company Lloyds Banking Group ( LYG ) was down 2.3%, while communications company WPP ( WPP ) lost 1.8%.
