European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Trend Modestly Higher in Friday Trading

11:06 AM EDT, 05/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were trending modestly higher late Friday morning, rising 0.29% to 1,426.43 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index. The index is set to close out a subdued week up approximately 0.7%.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) and electronics company Philips (PHG), which rose 4.2% and 2.1% respectively. They were followed by financial services company ING (ING) and biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) , which were up 1.9% each.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical companies Cellectis ( CLLS ) and Grifols ( GRFS ) , which fell 3.6% and 1.8% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies MorphoSys ( MOR ) and argenx (ARGX), which dropped 2% and 1.3% respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics ( AUTL ) and biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) , which climbed 10.8% and 7.3% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics ( SLN ) and mining company BHP Group ( BHP ) , which increased 2.4% and 1.8% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) , which lost 5.9% and 4% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Bicycle Therapeutics ( BCYC ) and software firm Endava ( DAVA ) , which were down 2.3% and 0.5% respectively.
