European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Trend Modestly Higher in Thursday Trading

11:10 AM EDT, 05/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were trending modestly higher late Thursday morning, rising 0.35% to 1,408.14 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Genfit ( GNFT ) and Calliditas Therapeutics ( CALT ) , which rose 14.7% and 2.9% respectively. They were followed by 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS) and biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) , which were up 2.1% and 2.4% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) and software firm SAP (SAP), which dropped 5.6% and 4% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company argenx (ARGX) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which were down 2.9% and 2% respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) and biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ), which increased (TRIB) 7.1% and 6.2% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics ( SLN ) and communications company WPP ( WPP ) , which rose 2.1% each.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by software firm Endava ( DAVA ) and biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) , which lost 3.9% and 2.7% respectively. They were followed by gas and electricity provider National Grid ( NGG ) and mining company BHP Group ( BHP ) , which were down 1.2% and 0.9% respectively.
