European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Turn Sharply Higher in Tuesday Trading

11:08 AM EST, 11/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were sharply higher late Tuesday morning, advancing 1.15% to 1,587.20 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by medical device maker EDAP TMS ( EDAP ) and lender Banco Santander (SAN), which rose 6% and 3.2%, respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) and telecommunications operator Telefonica ( TEF ) , which were up 3% each.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by furniture manufacturer Natuzzi (NTZ) and biopharmaceutical company Cellectis (CLLS), which fell 6.7% and 3.8%, respectively. They were followed by semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ) , which were down 3.3% and 2%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biotech frim Autolus Therapeutics ( AUTL ) and cruise line operator Carnival (CUK), which climbed 12% and 4.5%, respectively. They were followed by lender Lloyds Banking Group ( LYG ) and tobacco company British American Tobacco ( BTI ) , which increased 3.8% and 3.5%, respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) and Mereo BioPharma Group ( MREO ) , which dropped 12% and 1.2%, respectively. They were followed by educational publisher Pearson (PSO) and oil and gas company BP (BP), which were off 0.8% each.
