From continental Europe, the gainers were led by financial services companies Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria ( BBVA ) and Banco Santander (SAN), which rose 4.7% and 4.5% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications company Nokia ( NOK ) and financial services company ING (ING), which increased 3.6% and 3.3% respectively.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies ( DBVT ) and accommodations booking company trivago (TRVG), which fell 9.7% and 3.9% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Evaxion Biotech ( EVAX ) and biopharmaceutical company Genfit ( GNFT ) , which dropped 4.1% and 2.9% respectively.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by alcoholic beverage company Diageo ( DEO ) and telecommunications operator Vodafone Group ( VOD ) , which were up 4.6% and 3.2% respectively. They were followed by financial services companies Barclays ( JJCTF ) and Lloyds Banking Group ( LYG ) , which advanced 2.1% and 1.7% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and Akari Therapeutics ( AKTX ) , which lost 3% and 2% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies Biodexa Pharmaceuticals ( BDRX ) and Amarin ( AMRN ) , which were down 3% and 2.6% respectively.
